This is the website of a Nepalese writer educated in India, the United States, Britain and Norway. He served as a journalist in Nepalese daily newspaper and later worked for the United Nations in New York and Pakistan as staff member. He also worked as consultant for such UN agencies as UNDP, the World Bank, ILO on short assignments. He was also one of the first writers of Lonely Planet Publications and authored five editions of Lonely Planet’s travel guidebook on Nepal and co-authored five editions of Lonely Planet’s guidebook on India. Besides Lonely Planet his publishers include Hippocrene Books, New York, Rupa Books, Delhi, Nirala Books, Delhi, Harper Collins India and Pilgrim Books, Varanasi, India. His fifteen thousand Nepali-English and English-Nepali Dictionary was published in New York in 2013. Hippocrene Books also published his Dictionary and Phrasebook. His book on the Royal Massacre in Nepal and the Popular Movement against monarchy was published by Rupa Books of New Delhi. He has written books in English and Nepali languages.
He has given presentations in twelve universities and colleges in the US including University of Michigan, University of Wisconsin, Boston University, Macalaster College, Minnesota and Illinois State University. His presentations in Europe have included University of Vienna, Austria, East London University, UK, Swiss Peace, Switzerland, University of Lille, France and Institute of Social Studies, the Netherlands. He was one of the three co-recipients of Thomas Cook Best Guidebook of the Year Award in 1982. He was vice President of Nepal Council of World Affairs and is now Secretary of Nepal Chapter of International PEN. He has represented Nepal in International PEN congresses in Tromso, Norway, Berlin, Germany, Bled, Slovenia, Belgrade, Serbia, Bogota, Colombia and Gwangju, Korea.
